Cafe Racer Definition:
A Cafe Racer is a style of bike made popular in England in the 1950s where bikers wanted a fast, personalized and distinctive bike to travel from cafe to cafe. Many Cafe Racer bikes have distinctive small low-cut fairings.
Thruxton is a well-known racing circuit in Hampshire (Great Britain) and following the 1969 success of a first, second and third-placed romp home for Triumph in the Thruxton 500 (a 500-mile endurance race), a series of very special racing Bonnevilles was born.

The Bonneville Thruxtons back then were basically road racers with tuned engines and a cut down style that motivated the café racing street motorcyclists of the time.
BMW has done the usual "tuned for torque" thing to make the 1170cc Boxer motor more cruiser-appropriate. Claimed horsepower is just 61, while torque is a respectable 72 lb-ft.
Engine: Air/oil cooled, Boxer twin cylinder
Transmission: 5 speed

Whether your riding through mountain passes or rolling along open prairies, the new BMW Montauk was built for long peaceful rides . Packed full of torque (72 lb/ft), its got plenty of energy to climb winding mountain roads and an updated 5-speed transmission to keep the miles rolling by smoothly.

The new Montauk also features BMW’s two spark ignition system, an advancement that improves exhaust emissions, fuel consumption and response, setting a new benchmark for cruiser performance.

Stylistically, the Montauk retains the clean, elegant lines of the classic R 1200 C but with a few extras to give it a presence all its own. Complementing the purity of the open design, the Montauk features a subtle windshield, extending riding comfort on long stretches of road and vertically arranged dual headlights.
An extraordinarily beautiful "two into one into two" exhaust has been designed for the S4R. With both silencers positioned high and on the right side of the bike, the system has an aggressive and powerful new look.
